Highland Spring HIHO organizers announce the addition of stand-up paddle racing to the 2010 event.

The SUP category will include both a one design fleet with the 12'6" Starboard Cruiser board available to rent, plus Open racing where competitors may use any board.

Competitors in the new SUP category will race for 6-days on a tour through the British Virgin Islands. Racing will include both inter-island courses, plus island circumnavigations. Race duration will vary between 1-2 hours with some longer courses lasting 3 hours. Inter-island courses will always be downwind. Paddlers can expect to cover 150-miles as they weave a course through the islands.

The Starboard Cruiser is a great board, and ideal for inter-island paddling. The board offers 203 liters of flotation making it perfect for a cross section of paddlers. Fifteen of the AST Camo Cruiser's will be available for rent during the event.
