Team E.J and Brandi dominates the 1st Annul Paddle to the Channel in Lake Havasu, Arizona

Brandi Cumin Backsic:
Saturday Oct. 10th, both EJ and I competed in the 1st Annual Paddle to the Channel in Lake Havasu, Arizona. The race consisted of 8 1Mile laps with an ending underneath the famous London Bridge in Lake Havasu City. So by the end, the race was about 9-10 miles. EJ had a phenomenal race and finished first with at least 3 minutes between him and 2nd place. He got an early lead and just widened the gap with each lap. I finished first for the women and lapped the second place girl, so I was probably about 15 minutes ahead of second. I finished 5th overall. Initially, the competition was billed as the World Championships, but really consisted of about 60-70 paddlers from California, Arizona, and Utah. The venue was awesome, and we expect bigger things from this event in future years to come.

Great news, Team Starboard won two more 1st places in Arizona, Lake Havasu. It was 85 competitors from around the country. I pulled away quickly and gaped the other paddlers by 75 meters per lap. Ending up with close to a 5 min lead at the finish. Brandi and I both had an excellent race. She, beating all female racers and coming 5th overall, shattering more men's ego's!

Thanks for your support.
