John Hibbard won the Sprint racing discipline using Starboards 12'6x30 PIN at the first round of the BSUPA contest of the year. Conditions weren't suitable for the surf discipline, but a full round of sprint racing and Distance racing was held over the weekend. John also placed 2nd in the Distance racing. John says: "The racing was really close. I was gutted to just miss out on a first place in the distance racing, but really happy to get first in the sprint. Well done to Mark Slater who won the distance race. He is a power house and his strength is amazing. I'll be aiming to beat him next time round though!" During the event there were over 30 boards for people to try out. The demos went down really well, allowing loads of people the chance to have their first go at Stand Up Paddling. Next stop on the BSUPA tour is 6th - 7th June.. |
